Life Legacy


Marjorie Jane (Ralston) Sheets, 86, formerly of rural West Lafayette, Montmorenci, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor of Wabash where she had been a resident since March.
She was born September 12, 1925 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to the late John C. and Gladys (Gonia) Ralston. She was a 1943 graduate of Montmorenci High School.
Her marriage was to John C. Sheets on May 5, 1945 at the Montmorenci United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2010.
She was a homemaker and lived on a farm in Tippecanoe County. Marge was a member of the Montmorenci United Methodist Church and Otterbein United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the John Purdue Club, Purdue President's Council, Sigma Alpha Sorority, United Methodist Women and DAR.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, gardening, birds, butterflies, watching her family play sports, and attending Purdue football and basketball games.
Family was always the most important, and she cherished spending time with them, including traveling with her husband of 65 years.
Surviving is a son, Douglas H. Sheets (wife: Brenda) of West Lafayette a daughter, Teresa J. Witkoske (husband: Steven) of Wabash, four grandchildren Dr. Clinton Sheets (wife: Carrie), Evan Witkoske, Brandi "Nicki" Suba (husband: Josh) and Harley Cyr and her six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan and Nolan Sheets and Hannah, Collin and Grace Suba.
Also surviving is a wonderful extended family including many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Robert Ralston and Dr. John Ralston, two sisters, Ruth Johanssen and Jean Ricklefs Agnello, and a special granddaughter, Stephanie Sheets.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston and also from 10 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the chapel located on the grounds of Montmorenci Cemetery with Gary Sims officiating. Interment to follow in the Montmorenci Cemetery.
