Life Legacy
Dorothy E. Bellows, 91, of Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette, formerly of Remington, died at 4:56 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at IU Health Hospital of Lafayette.
She was born May 21, 1920 in Remington to the late Bernard Blake and Lora (Norwood) Hicks. She graduated from Remington High School in 1938 and Home Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.
Her marriage was to Edward Wilson Bellows on January 15, 1944 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Remington. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2011.
She was a member of Remington United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the Women's Association. She was also a member of the Dorcas Club and Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed church work and spending time with her family.
Surviving is one daughter, Janet Biddle (husband: Bill) of West Lafayette and one son, Ed Bellows (wife: Sandra) of Hendersonville, TN.
Also surviving are three granddaughters, Holly Kunkel (husband: Scott) of Brentwood, TN, Erin Morales (husband: Jason) and Allison Tucker (husband: Jonathan) both of Nashville, TN, two grandsons, Bryce Biddle (wife: Kelli) of Remington and Stephen Biddle (wife: Jill) of Carmel and twelve great-grandchildren, Ella, Laurel, Caroline and Quinn Kunkel, Madeline and Isabel Morales, Wilson and Estella Tucker, Audrey and Blake Biddle and Adelyn and Beckham Biddle.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Stockment.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. (EST) Friday, December 16, 2011 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. (EST) Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Remington United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary van Wijk officiating. Interment to follow at Remington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Remington United Methodist Church or Cumberland Pointe Activity Fund.
