February 15, 1927 - March 17, 2011

Edwin A. Bahler, 84, of Remington, Indiana passed peacefully away at the Mulberry Retirement Community in Mulberry, Indiana at 9:10 p.m., March 17, 2011.

He was the son of Erwin and Anna (Eisenmann) Bahler and was a resident of Remington all his life. In his youth he was taught the truth of the Bible, and believed this was God’s message for man. When he was 19 years old, he made his peace with God through repentance and faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He often spoke to others about his love for the Lord and was known to give out an occasional card or magnet with a Scripture verse or Bible teaching. During his illness in the last few years when asked how he was feeling, his ready answer was always, “thankful.”

As founder of FBi Buildings, Edwin was afforded the opportunity to share his love for people and buildings. He spent many fruitful years in that industry and was an example of industriousness, innovation and friendliness. As a builder of people, as well as buildings, he was blessed with loyal and faithful co-workers who were a joy and encouragement to him when he visited with them. Ed was also deeply devoted to his church family and the community.

On March 28, 1948, Edwin married Lois Frey, who grew up just a mile away from his home in Remington, Indiana. She survives. Also surviving are their children: Barry Bahler (wife: Jackie), and Kurt Bahler (wife: Patti) of West Lafayette, Indiana. Libby Wahl, (husband: Fred) and Ed Bahler (wife: Annette) of Lafayette, Indiana. Bradley Bahler (wife: Dorene) of Athens, Wisconsin. Lili Koehl (husband: Dale) of Bloomington, Illinois. Beth Virkler (husband: Stan) of Remington and Charleen Hartter (husband: Tim) of Sabetha, Kansas. 41 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Walter Bahler (wife: Esther) of Remington and Raymond Bahler of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and five sisters, Evelyn Knochel of Lafayette; Edith Kaufman (husband: Ben) of Ft. Wayne; Mable Bahler of Columbus, Ohio; Betty Zimmerman of Atlanta, Georgia and Viola Stoller (husband: Richard), Wolcott, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David, and an infant sister.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. (EST) Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Remington Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall (located behind the church at 16448 South US HWY 231, Remington) and also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 with the church ministers officiating. Burial to follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, south of Remington, Indiana.
