Life Legacy


E. Marceline "Marcie" Erb, 79, of Francesville, died at 7:26 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Jasper County Hospital. She was a stroke survivor of 9 years.

She was born August 10, 1930 in Medaryville to the late Orville Clinton and Frances Emaline Fritz Sanders. She was a 1948 graduate of Medaryville High School.

Her first marriage was to Richard Burget in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1966. She then married Neil V. Erb on April 7, 1973 in Medaryville. He survives.

Mrs. Erb owned and operated the Black Kat Grill in Medaryville.
She loved to travel, enjoying her trips to Germany, Spain, Israel, Italy, Egypt, Ireland and Hawaii, was a great cook, enjoyed gardening, preserving foods and crafts.

Mrs. Erb was a member of the First Christian Church of Francesville, Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Pulaski Farm Bureau and Lady's Bible Study.

Surviving with her husband are her daughters, Deborah Blackwood (husband: Jay) of Boulder, Colorado, Mary Jane Royce (husband: Mike) of Wheatfield, Patricia Dunno (husband: Jerry) of Columbia, South Carolina; a step-son, Darrel Erb of Francesville; a step-daughter, Darleen Erb (husband: Ryan Abplanalp) of Wolcott; three sisters, Norma Bennett and Joann Luken (husband: Leroy) both of Crown Point, and Alice Whited of Demotte; and two brothers, Buck Sanders (wife: Georgia) of Monticello and Pat Sanders (wife: Judy) of Winamac.

Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her brothers, Lloyd, Richard, Milton and Eldon; sisters, Doris, Marjean, and Carol Ann; an infant daughter; and a step-daughter, Cindy Jo Timmons.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. (noon) Monday, March 8, 2010 at First Christian Church of Francesville. Rev. Jim Ketchum to officiate. Interment to follow in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Marcie to the National Aphasia Association, American Diabetes Association or First Christian Church of Francesville. Clapper Family Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.
