Life Legacy
Thomas Howard McFarland, 70, of Griffith, Indiana, died suddenly at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette. He had been a resident there since June of 2009.
He was born July 26, 1939 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Francis E. and Evelyn L. (Dunkin) McFarland.
Mr. McFarland was United States Air Force veteran who was honorably discharged in January 30, 1961.
He was a machinist in East Chicago working for Combustion Engineering until it closed then lastly for Union Tank Car until retiring in the mid 90’s.
He loved to read. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and hard work.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas M. McFarland (wife: Margaret) of Merrillville and Paul F. McFarland (wife: Mary) of Hammond and a brother, Charles McFarland of Maryland.
Private graveside services to be held Monday at the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery.
