Life Legacy
Jeanette L. Wagner, 87, formerly of Wolcott and West Lafayette, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, in Aurora, Colo.
Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Goodland, she was the daughter of Frank and Bertha Schneidt.
She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Elizabeth Nursing School in Lafayette.
On Oct. 2, 1946, she married Francis S. “Budd” Wagner, and they made Wolcott their home for over 50 years. Mr. Wagner died in 1999.
Mrs. Wagner was a community private care nurse for many years and was the school nurse for Tri-County School Corp. for over 20 years, retiring in 1987. She moved to Westminster Village, West Lafayette, in 2000, where she was an active resident and volunteer until 2009 when she moved to Shalom Park in Aurora.
She was an active member of the Diocese of Lafayette Catholic Parishes: Sts. Peter and Paul in Goodland, Sacred Heart in Remington and Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette. She was an active volunteer and leader in many local organizations, including the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary (Girls State Mentor), the Altar and Rosary Society of the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish (Rosarian of the Year), Psi Iota Psi Philanthropic Sorority (Charter Member and Community Liaison) and Lions Club International.
Surviving are her children, Sandra and Jack Spencer of Vandalia, Ohio, Steven and Anne Wagner of Littleton, Colo., William and Sheila Wagner of Lafayette, Cris and Cynthia Wagner of Aurora, Lisa and David Armold of Lafayette; and her brothers, Richard and Kenneth.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Emily Spencer, Elizabeth Spencer (fiancé: Reed Hogue), Ellen Spencer, Mercedes and Sergio Gutierrez, Braden Wagner, Alexis and Andrew Cole, Elise Wagner (fiancé: Scott Murphy), Caresse Wagner, Beaumont Wagner, Tim and Antigone Wagner, Jeff Wagner and Nikkie Jacott, Sara Wagner, Chelsea Wagner, Carly Wagner, Colin Armold, Shelby Armold; and great-grandchildren, Toby, Megan, Hayden, Hailey, Chloe, Canyon, Tre, Ana Maria, Diego and Elise. She was preceded in death by 7 siblings, Paul, Leo, Irvin, Irene, Fritz, Cletus and Dale. Jeanette always had a positive outlook on life. She went out of her way to help others with a sense of humility and purpose.
Jeanette’s family held memorial services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Littleton, Colo., on Feb. 19, 2010. Services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Remington, on March 13, 2010, with visitation at 10 a.m., Rosary service at 11:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in Jeanette’s memory to Catholic Relief Services (Haiti Fund) or the Alzheimer’s Association.
