Life Legacy

Beverly J. McKee, 66, of Battle Ground, died at 2:55 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2010 in her home.

She was born August 16, 1943 in Hamlet to Helen Thompson Cooley and the late Harold Cooley. She was a 1961 graduate of Hamlet High School, where she was the prom queen her senior year.

Her marriage was to Roy J. McKee on July 2, 1973. He survives.
Mrs. McKee worked for several years at numerous nursing homes as a Patient Aide.

Beverly enjoyed working with the patients at the nursing homes, collected stuffed bears and glass shoes, enjoyed flea markets, yard sales, gardening, camping, cooking, auctions and listening to country music.

Surviving with her husband are her children, Leroy Hiner (wife: Jennifer) of Brookston, Melissa Kauffman (husband: John) of Brookston and Sherry Gobel (companion: Adam) of Westfield; a stepdaughter, Michelle Lawson (husband: Dave) of Lafayette; two sisters, Eileen Cooley of Bremen, IN and Shirley Brown (husband: Myron) of Toto, IN; and five brothers, Earl Dean Cooley (wife: Lucy) of Merritt Island, FL, Jimmy Cooley of Hamlet, Kenny Cooley (wife: Emily) of LaPorte, Jerry Cooley (wife: Vicki) of Knox and Denny Cooley (wife: Kathy) of Knox.

Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Pastor Joe Hornick to officiate. Interment to follow at Battle Ground Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in memory of Beverly to Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Donald and Bobby Cooley.
