Biography

Donna Kay Schrader, 66, of Lafayette, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Clarian Arnett Hospital. She was a ten year cancer survivor.
She was born February 9, 1943 in Allendale, Illinois to the late R.B. and Theodocia (Ridlen) Matlock and was a 1961 graduate of Wiley High School in Terre Haute.
For over 33 years she owned and operated Small World Child Care, a licensed child care home, retiring in June of 2009.
She was a 30 year member of Tops (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) IN0200 Lafayette Chapter where she held every local office as well as serving as State Treasurer for one year. She also volunteered for TOPS Obesity Research Program at the University of Wisconsin.
Surviving are two daughters, Kelly (husband: Ben Bol) and Kristi; and a sister, Lois Ogle.
Kay loved her family so much. Her two grandsons, Jonathan and Austin Hartz and granddaughter, Nicole Kroshus brought her great happiness.
Preceding her in death with her parents are one brother, one sister and a granddaughter.
Another volunteer endeavor was her love for the Vinton Neighborhood Association and co-chairing their first ever classic car show. She lived in the “hood” for 39 years.
Memorial service 3 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette with coffee, cookies and conversation to follow in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, Kay requested that those remembering her take a friend to lunch, laugh and remember the good times.
