Biography

Marjorie Larue (White) Young, 94, of Earl Park, formerly of Brookston, died at 3:37 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 in Lafayette Home Hospital.
She was born May 21, 1915 in Brookston to the late Lowell and Mildred (Corns) White and was a 1933 graduate of Brookston High School.
Her marriage was to Howard Young in March of 1938. They later divorced.
Mrs. Young was a cook at the Kentland Truck Stop for twenty years. Previously she worked for Capital Products in Kentland for many years.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Kentland.
She enjoyed puzzle books and watching basketball on television, especially Purdue University.
Surviving are three daughters, Georgia Care of Earl Park, Julie Carey of Watseka, IL and Mary Robinson (husband: Rich) of Jackson, Mississippi and a brother, Don White (wife: Patsy) of Brookston.
Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Wilma and Gladys White. She enjoyed spending time with her 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Gene & Francis White and two sisters, Juanita Fite and Martha Hiner.
Friends may call from 1 – 3 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Service there 2 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010. Interment to follow in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
