Life Legacy
Gerald L. Towne, 89, of Remington, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in George Ade Memorial Health Care where he had been a resident since November 2004.
He was born December 24, 1920 in Brooklyn, Illinois to the late Sidney Augustus Towne and Vera Annis Croyle Towne.
His marriage was to Beulah Joy Linback and she preceded him in death on April 3, 1991. He then married Alice Towne and she preceded him in death on July 2, 1994.
Mr. Towne worked on chicken and turkey farms for several years in Arkansas before moving back to Indiana in 1994. He then worked for and retired from the Benton County State Highway Department.
Surviving are his children, Gerald Duane Towne (wife: Ann) of Lafayette; Sandra Joyce Bulington (husband: Rick) of Remington; and Cathie Jo Hare of Goodland; and a sister, Mary Lyons of Springfield, Illinois.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Beth Chastain, Heather Bulington, Bryna Towne, Whitney Towne, Sara Towne, Courtney Towne, Kristina Towne, Nathan Towne, Victoria Hare and Jerry Hare and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is a son, Vernon Leslie Towne and a brother, Sidney Augustus Towne.
Private family services and inurnment will be held at a later date at Remington Cemetery.
Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington is entrusted with care.
